LG Washer OE & LE Error Code Repair

If your LG front-load or top-load washer is flashing OE or LE, the machine has stopped a cycle because it can't drain the tub (OE) or because the motor / rotor sensor isn't reading correctly (LE). Both codes leave clothes soaking wet and unspun. We diagnose and repair these errors every week across Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front.

Symptoms

What you're probably seeing

  • OE code: water still in the drum at the end of the cycle
  • OE code: drain pump runs but is loud, slow, or silent
  • LE code: washer fills then stops before the spin cycle
  • LE code: clicking or grinding from under the tub
  • Clothes come out dripping wet and the cycle restarts itself

Common Causes

Why your LG Washing Machine is throwing OE / LE

Clogged drain pump or filter

Coins, lint, hair clips and small socks lodge in the pump impeller, triggering OE within minutes of filling.

Kinked or blocked drain hose

A pinched hose behind the washer or a clogged standpipe stops water from draining and trips OE.

Failed drain pump motor

Pump windings burn out after years of use — you'll hear a hum but no water movement.

Bad Hall sensor (rotor position sensor)

The #1 cause of LE on direct-drive LG washers. The sensor sits on the stator and fails from heat and moisture.

Worn rotor bolt or stator damage

A loose rotor bolt lets the magnet wobble and gives the control board a bad reading, throwing LE.

Failed main control board

Less common, but voltage spikes can damage the PCB and produce phantom OE / LE codes.

Our Process

How we fix it

  1. 1

Run a diagnostic cycle and read the live error history from the control board

  2. 2

Pull the pump filter, inspect the impeller, and test the drain pump under load

  3. 3

Check the drain hose path, standpipe height, and house drain flow

  4. 4

Remove the rotor and test the Hall sensor and stator resistance with a meter

  5. 5

Replace the failed part with a genuine LG component and re-run a full test cycle

FAQ

LG OE / LE questions

Is it worth repairing an LG washer with an LE code?+

Almost always yes. A Hall sensor replacement is a quick, affordable fix that adds years to a washer that otherwise runs perfectly. We give you a flat-rate quote before any work begins.

Can I clear the OE code myself first?+

You can try cleaning the pump filter behind the lower-front access panel and checking that the drain hose isn't kinked. If the code returns within a cycle or two, the pump or wiring needs professional service.

How long does the repair take?+

Most LG OE and LE repairs are completed in a single visit, typically 45–90 minutes once the part is on the truck. We stock the common drain pumps and Hall sensors for LG washers.
